Hey there! My name is Kaitlyn.

My interest for abandoned structures began a few years ago when a friend of mine invited me and a few others to explore the then abandoned Grossinger's Resort. I admit, I was a little scared at first as the place was huge and no one knew what would of happen while we were there since the structure had been vacant since the late 1980's and everything was falling apart. But, as we explored more of the resort, I started to wonder how this place was before it met its demise.

 

After we went back a year later to explore more of the land, I started looking up information about the resort and found out it was once one of the most famous and luxurious resorts in the Catskill Mountains. I winded up finding more facts about it and was eager to go back a third time to see the rest of the buildings and land we haven't already seen. Unfortunately, the resort was scheduled for demolition months later and was torn down before we got a chance to return.

This experience started to fueled my curiosity behind vacant structures and what had become of them after being closed for so many years.

 

For some structures, they had been vandalized for years and later torn down. For others, they had been bought out by private owners and are being protected from society.
